Located at the entrance of Magoksa Temple in Gongju, Dubu Dubu is a cozy restaurant that specializes in healthy tofu-based dishes.
That day, I ordered the “Tofu Dumpling soup set”, and honestly, every single dish was amazing —
the soft and mild tofu, the stuffed dumplings, the refreshing broth,
the slightly bitter muk muchim (seasoned acorn jelly salad), and the crispy tofu sweet & sour dish all came together in perfect harmony! ๐ฉต
If you want to enjoy a healthy and heartwarming meal in the peaceful atmosphere of a mountain temple area — this is the place to visit ๐

๐ First Visit to Dubu Dubu — Right by Magoksa Temple
I had heard that there’s often a waiting line just to eat at this tofu restaurant,
so during the weekend stroll to Magoksa Temple, I decided to stop by!
From the outside, it looks so clean and modern that I thought it might be a newly built place,
but right at the entrance, there’s a sign saying it’s actually the oldest handmade tofu restaurant near Magoksa!
Even though we arrived a bit after 2 PM, we still waited about 20 minutes —
so yes, be prepared for a short wait ๐
Parking in front of the restaurant is limited,
so I recommend parking at the Magoksa public parking lot and walking about 5 minutes along the peaceful path ๐
๐ฒ The Dish — Tofu Dumpling Hotpot Set
I ordered the Tofu Dumpling soup set, and just hearing the name already made me feel healthier ๐
Here’s what it includes ๐
- A soup filled with tofu, dumplings, and fresh vegetables
- Seasoned muk muchim (acorn jelly salad) and crispy tofu sweet & sour
- A neat assortment of side dishes (kimchi, seasoned greens, bean curd stew, perilla leaves, etc.)
From the broth to the side dishes, everything felt like a gentle and comforting meal that was kind to my stomach.

We had the tofu dumpling soup set,
but there were other dishes that looked tempting too —
I’ll definitely try a different menu next time! ๐ (Menu was writtend in only Korea..)

๐ฅข Taste Review — One Bite of Comfort
๐ โ The Broth
The broth was absolutely wonderful — clear and refreshing,
yet rich with subtle soybean smell and deep umami flavor.
Maybe it’s because of the fresh mountain air around Magoksa,
but it honestly tasted cleaner and lighter than usual ๐
๐ฅ โก The Dumplings
These weren’t the usual dumplings wrapped in dough —
they were shaped more like tofu meatballs!
Packed with tofu, glass noodles, and vegetables,
they were flavorful without being greasy.
Once lightly simmered in the hotpot, they turned tender but still held a nice bite ๐ฅข
๐ โข The Tofu
You can immediately tell how fresh their tofu is.
The moment I took a bite, I understood why people were willing to wait outside!
It tasted rich and nutty, with a bouncy texture that didn’t fall apart even after sitting in hot broth.
Honestly, it’s one of the softest, most flavorful tofu I’ve ever had ๐
๐ฅ โฃ Muk Muchim — A Refreshing Kick
If the tofu soup was warm and gentle,
the muk muchim (acorn jelly salad) added a refreshing and tangy contrast ๐
Thin slices of acorn jelly mixed with fresh veggies, sesame seeds,
and a dressing made from red pepper paste, vinegar, and a hint of sesame oil.
The first bite made me think, “Wow, this is so clean and delicate!”
The chewy, slippery texture of the acorn jelly was perfect —
and you could tell they use a high ratio of real acorn powder because it had that lovely subtle bitterness ๐
It paired beautifully with the hotpot — a perfect balance of warm and cool dishes.
โค Tofu Sweet & Sour — Crispy, Light, and Addictive โจ
This one honestly surprised me the most.
“Tofu… in sweet and sour sauce?” I thought skeptically —
but one bite changed my mind completely ๐
The tofu was lightly battered and fried to golden perfection —
crispy on the outside, tender and creamy inside.
The batter was so thin and crunchy that it wasn’t oily at all.
The sauce was slightly more tangy and sweet than the typical sweet & sour sauce,
and it paired beautifully with the nutty tofu flavor, leaving a clean aftertaste.
๐ฌ This dish alone is worth ordering as a side.
If you combine the hotpot + tofu sweet & sour, it becomes a truly satisfying meal ๐ฝ๏ธ
๐ โฅ Rice & Side Dishes
The rice was warm and freshly cooked,
and the side dishes were simple but elegant — the perfect complement.
The homemade seasoned bean curd and perilla leaves were especially addictive!
It really felt like a traditional Korean countryside meal ๐๐ฟ
