Student-budget vibe: Stone-plate pork belly + cheese kimchi fried rice

If you’re studying at (or visiting) Ajou University, you’ve probably noticed the area is packed

with quick, filling, student-friendly restaurants.

Food Therapy (푸드테라피) is one of those places that’s perfect when you want a hot,

satisfying Korean meal without overthinking it—especially for international students

who want something “very Korean,” but still easy to order.

It’s also very close to Ajou University’s main gate (many posts describe it as about

a 1-minute walk),and it’s often described as being in the “KFC alley” area.

What we ordered (for 2 people)

We went as a couple and ordered two signature “stone-plate” dishes:

  1. Stone-plate Pork Belly (돌판삼겹살)
10,000 KRW per person (listed with rice + soup on some menus)
  2. Stone-plate Beef Belly Cheese Kimchi Fried Rice (돌판우삼겹 치즈 김치볶음밥)
    10,000 KRW per person

This combo is honestly a great “first visit” set: one classic meat dish + one Korean comfort fried rice.

Taste review (international-student friendly)

✅ Stone-plate Pork Belly (돌판삼겹살)

You’ll get a hot plate that stays warm until the last bite—great if you’re chatting, on a date,
or eating slowly between classes. Many reviews describe Food Therapy as filling, budget-friendly,
and good for both solo meals and dates
, which matches the vibe we felt too.

✅ Cheese Kimchi Fried Rice with Beef Belly (돌판우삼겹 치즈 김치볶음밥)

If you like kimchi fried rice but want something richer, the cheese + beef belly (우삼겹) makes it
extra satisfying. It’s one of those dishes that feels very Korean, but still approachable for first-timers.

What other visitors often say (summary)

Based on common review patterns:

  • People frequently mention it’s great value / big portions and feels very “student-area friendly.”
  • A popular highlight is the self-serve station (many mention unlimited rice/soup/side dishes).
  • Review categories often include solo dining (혼밥) and date meals, so it’s not awkward
to go alone or as a couple.

Parking & getting there

  • Parking: There’s no dedicated parking, and recommend using nearby public parking
or Ajou University parking, or coming by public transport.
  • How to find it: “Near Ajou University main gate” + “KFC alley” are common directions.

Extra tips for international students

How to order (easy)

You can simply say:

  • Dolpan samgyeopsal juseyo” (돌판삼겹살 주세요) = “Stone-plate pork belly, please.”
  • U-samgyeop cheese kimchi bokkeumbap juseyo” (우삼겹 치즈 김치볶음밥 주세요) =
“Beef belly cheese kimchi fried rice, please.”

Spice & dietary notes

  • Kimchi fried rice can be mild-to-medium spicy depending on your tolerance.
To be honest, my Polish fiance had no any problem to enjoy all here.
If you want it less spicy, try:
    • Deol maepge haejuseyo” (덜 맵게 해주세요) = “Please make it less spicy.”
  • Not vegetarian / not halal-friendly by default (pork, beef, and cheese are involved).
If you have dietary restrictions, it’s best to ask staff before ordering.

Best time to visit

  • For a calmer meal: go before peak dinner time (around 5–6 PM).
  • If you’re sensitive to food smell on clothes, consider bringing a light jacket you don’t mind
(hot-plate meat dishes can leave a scent).

Food Therapy is a solid “Ajou area classic”: warm food, easy ordering,
filling portions, and a very student-friendly vibe.
If you’re an international student looking for a reliable Korean meal near campus,
this place is an easy win.!!
